Courtney Walker is the former librarian at Skaggs Elementary School in Plano ISD where she was awarded Plano ISD’s 2022 Elementary Teacher of the Year. She is now the Programs and Events Coordinator for the Plano ISD Education Foundation, the non-profit that supports the district. Currently she is writing her first book which will be published by Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited titled "Special Education in School Libraries: A Vision for a Radically Inclusive Library". Courtney is the creator of a new library collection type called Adapted Book Library Collections. She serves on TLA's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee, has acted as a keynote interviewer and panel moderator for the North Texas Teen Book Festival, is a Sam Houston State University's Library Science Ambassador and also serves SHSU as a member of the Library Science Advisory Board. Above all, Courtney's greatest passion and life goal is to promote the most inclusive library and literacy experience for people with special needs.
