Edward Remus is an Assistant Professor and Social Sciences Librarian at Northeastern Illinois University. His areas of scholarly interest include intellectual freedom, viewpoint diversity, and library programming. He holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA in History from Northeastern Illinois University. In 2022 he won and administered a grant funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association to support a series of virtual panel discussions on controversial topics related to the U.S. Constitution featuring scholars hailing from across the political spectrum. He now coordinates an ongoing NEIU Libraries panel discussion series, “Between Past and Future,” that features scholars with differing interpretations of controversial topics at the intersection of history and politics. His book chapter, "Curating the Scholarly Controversy: Partnering with Subject Faculty to Organize Viewpoint-Diverse Panel Discussions," will appear in the forthcoming book Teaching Information Literacy in Political Science, Public Affairs, and International Studies, to be published by the Association of College and Research Libraries.
