We Are Water brings a multicultural and multigenerational traveling exhibit and interactive programs to rural and tribal libraries in the Four Corners Region of the United States (UT, CO, AZ, and NM), specifically to Indigenous, Latinx, and underserved rural communities. With funding from the National Science Foundation, the project is a collaboration between scientists, Indigenous science educators, learning researchers, informal educators, and library staff. The project engages community members in conversations about their personal connections to local water topics through storytelling, STEAM learning experiences, and interactive exhibit components. The success of the project hinges on partnerships between the project team, local community members, and library staff who host the exhibition. Join us as we share lessons-learned and our ever-evolving reflections on how to strengthen connections across diverse communities.
