Librarian
CSU Long Beach
Alexis L. Pavenick, PhD, MLIS, MA, MPhil, Associate Librarian, California State University, Long Beach. I began my education and career as an anthropologist and curator, and then moved into English Literature. After 14 years of teaching English Composition and Humanities, and a PhD in Victorian Literature, I decided to become a librarian. I began as a staff librarian for a small design college in NYC and have moved to my dream job of being a subject specialist and instruction librarian for California State University, Long Beach. I liaise for the English Department, Comparative World Literature, Classics, and Romance, German, Russian, and Arabic Languages. I am also responsible for the Arnold T. Schwab Endowed Collection for LGBTQIA+ materials and the David and Marilee Samuelson Endowed Collection for Science Fiction & Fantasy. My current interests are in DEIAJ pedagogies, asynchronous learning, and Artificial Intelligence implementation and ethics. And I am very happy to note here that I am a member of ACRL's Women and Gender Studies Section and have just been elected as the incoming Vice Chair for ACRL's Literartures in English Section.
