Rachel Fleming-May is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she teaches information sources and services, instruction, and planning and assessment courses in the School’s ALA-Accredited Master of Science in Information Sciences (MSIS) program . Prior to earning a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Studies from the University of Alabama in 2008, Fleming-May worked for several years as a public library reference librarian and an academic library public services/liaison librarian. Her research focuses on topics including academic libraries and librarianship, library assessment, and the conceptual foundations of library and information science, and has been published in venues including the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, The Library Quarterly, Library and Information Science Research, and College and Research Libraries. Fleming-May is co-author of Fundamentals of Planning and Assessment for Libraries, published by ALA-Neal Schuman in 2021.
